Anyone willing to commit to the steering group?
All attenders were happy to be on the mailing list and feel able to contribute to a steering group in some capacity. Thanks to all who attended. It seems to have energised things considerably and there seems to be less of a risk of one or two people doing everything all the time and group should be more resilient as a result.
Possible roles: chairperson, communication co-ordinator, locum list co-ordinator, meetings co-ordinator, treasurer, any other suggestions.
Peter Taylor has kindly agreed to take on communication co-ordinator of the group.
Ed has kindly agreed to continue locum list role in the short term. Aim will be with website improvements to automate more of the locum list maintenance processes to make the role easier in the longer term.
Fintan will continue treasurer role for time being and will minute this particular meeting.
Deborah wishes to continue contributing to steering group but handover communication role. She has kindly agreed to referee the wider sssgpn wider group meeting as a one-off this month referred too later on in the minutes.
We have come to the conclusion that the current subscribers list will replace email list that Deborah holds to further simplify our held lists. It appears that some subscibers may not be on Deborahs mailing list and some non-subscibers are. Deborah will inform those currently on the mailing list that any that are not active subscribes are likely to no longer receive SSGPN communication emails and future communications to the wider SSGPN will be only to those on the active subscibers list. Fintan can provide this at any time to Peter for any future communications
Finances
£16600 including £12000 recently received from the CCG
Current active subscribes as result of query raised by Nan. A flurry of subscriptions in last month or two since the CPR meeting raised by Nan as said at during meeting 95 members 39 covered by current subscriptions, however a good proportion of ‘recently expired’ subscriptions will become active again by next week as they are monthly direct debits which do not show as renewed until 1 week or so after the first of the month which is when the direct debit is taken. Fintan will recheck this mid-month to get the true number of active subscriptions. Fintan expects there will be about 75 active subscribers.
Jobs currently done between only 2-3 people – any volunteers to be responsible for any of these?
Peter has categorised this job list and though he sent these out this afternoon, not all have received this. Further discussion if any members of the steering group/committee able to help with any of these jobs can be discussed at next steering group meeting. If Peter can please forward the email again to all on this mailing list.
Role and remit of SSGPN itself.
Remain a source of mutual support and learning for sessional GPs.
Immediate future meetings over Zoom the use of which is a learning curve for all of us. When meetings in person are more possible then we may be able to broadcast over zoom to those not able to attend in person if practical this may improve accessibility for all. Employment of an administrator/co-ordinator may add complexities at the moment ,but due consideration can be given to different venues in future where there is less requirement for one of the group to be present before and after the meeting to lock up, arrange refreshments, clearing up etc. currently there is enough money in the account to allow for this.
GDPR compliance
Not really discussed today (time issues) but can be adjourned to a future date.
Developments with Shrewsbury practices Primary Care Network and their locum registration system.
This was debated at some length and it was decided to open up the debate to the wider SSGPN as its importance merited a dedicated meeting. Ed will either contact individual practice managers within the Shrewsbury PCN group to ask them if they wish to continue to receive the locum list given the intent to change the system. The PCN ‘find me a locum’ raises several concerns including autonomy of individual locums, possibility of locums signing up for a shift at one particular practice and being transferred to another practice within the PCN; Dutch auctioning of pay rates to lowest bidder, loss of self-employed status, autonomy issues and IR35 implications amongst others. In the meantime, will direct locum SSGPN members towards the discussion on the SSGPN website so anyone who does decide to sign up to PCN system is at least aware of the potential pitfalls.
Decision as to future
Continue with website redo, program for registrars and meeting full terms of CCG conditions of money granted to SSGPN (signed agreement which outlines SSGPN commitments attached)as it appears there will be a large and robust enough steering group.
Fintan will actively look at website improvement and integration with locum list . He will liaise with Ed re this. Probably will be achieved through research and consultation with website specialists. May take some time.
Date and time of next meeting of steering group
First Monday of next month 7.00 pm 7 September 2020 as that seemed to be mutually manageable to all attenders present. Anticipated frequency of steering group committee meetings in the long term is to be 3-4 per year. Fintan will set this up and send out Zoom invites.
Date and time of next wider ssgpn meeting
Second Wednesday of this month 12 August 2020 this will be to discuss the PCN locum registration. It is important though in the meantime the the forum on the SSGPN site is used to discuss this.
