Thanks to everyone who filled in the recent CCG questionnaire on workload and other primary care stressors. Here is a message from Phil Morgan who organised this, and a summary of the results:
Shropshire CCG carried out a GP survey in November and December, asking GPs to comment on the challenges and issues facing them in their roles. The CCG would like to thank those of you who responded for your time and contributions to the survey. The analysis of the results of this survey is now available and can be found attached.
As the CCG previously indicated it will be using the results of the survey to commission a national GP training organisation to deliver a series of events. The aim of these events (details to be shared soon) will be to:
- Clarify and summarise issues which may lead GPs to consider leaving the profession early
- Develop strategies (individual and collective) to address them, thereby decreasing the likelihood of GPs retiring early or leaving the profession
Although there are a number of local initiatives and approaches in place designed to address some of the issues identified in the survey, the CCG is hoping that these events will lead to the development of a more strategic approach to addressing the key GP retention challenges.
