News and reminder of 9 May 2018 meeting

Hello Everyone,

This is a quick update before I go on holiday.

Firstly to remind you all that our next SSGPN meeting is next week, on Wednesday May 9th at the usual time, 6.30 for 7.00pm start, and will be an introduction to Balint groups, led by Chris Brown. Please note, this meeting is NOT at the Shrewsbury Club as previously, but at a new venue: Charlesworth Court Building, Charlesworth Court, Knights Way, Shrewsbury SY1 3AB.

Unfortunately, I won’t be at the meeting, as I hope to be drinking wine somewhere in the South of France, but I’m sure it will be an enjoyable evening! If there are any problems or questions, please contact Shehla ImamFintan Last or Chris Brown. I will be at our next meeting on 13 June, which will be the annual CPR update training at Severn Fields.

Remember, that we need volunteers to run meetings to keep them going – if you have something to offer, or even if you could organise and host an invited speaker please contact me or Shehla.

Next, I have been adding quite a few updates and newsletters, as I receive them, to this website, so thank you for registering and logging in here to keep up to date. I would be grateful for your feedback on what I have been posting, what is useful or not, and anything else you would like to see here. If it is particularly interesting I have posted some things on our Facebook page as well. I haven’t emailed everything to you all, to save you being bombarded by emails – there would be quite a lot of them! If you would like to receive information in this way then let me know and I could do this, but I would have to send them to everyone – it would just be too time consuming to keep separate distribution lists for different types of information.

Those on the locum list will be contacted shortly by Ed Penman with details of the changes to how the list is maintained. We have now just about confirmed the arrangements for payment of membership fees, and these will be in Ed’s email and added to the website shortly. I will also email the information to everyone on the contacts list when I get back. I hope you will all feel as we do that £24 per year is good value, and sign up asap.

Finally, we have a lot of people on our contacts list, but I know there are still sessional GPs out there who are not members. If you know of anyone, especially if newly qualified or new to the area, do please let them know about us and encourage them to get in touch, either by registering on the website or contacting me.

Best wishes

Deborah
